What Hazard must do to match CR7

It was reported earlier this month that Real Madrid have identified Chelsea winger Eden Hazard as the ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo if the Portuguese superstar does eventually return to Manchester United. But the Belgian’s lack of goals could cost him a dream move to the Bernabeu.

Back in December 2012, Hazard’s international teammate Christian Benteke revealed that Hazard’s career ambition is to wear the famous white shirt of the ten-time European champions.

Hazard has Real Madrid dream
"I am not surprised at Eden's success with Chelsea - and he can do even better," the Aston Villa striker told reporters. "He has the qualities needed to become an even greater player. His dream is to join Real Madrid - so I don't see why he can't join them in a year or two."
Almost two years have passed since Benteke’s revelation and it’s clear that Hazard would be high up the list of potential Ronaldo replacements if Real Madrid opted to cash in on their prized asset.

Hazard must score more
The 23-year-old is already one of the world’s best attacking wingers, but his lack of goals would be a concern for both Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti and president Florentino Perez.
Six games into the 2014/15 Premier League campaign and Hazard has only managed to net one goal and contribute two assists. Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas have been the most effective players at Stamford Bridge so far this season, leaving their Belgian teammate in the shadows.

Ronaldo and Bale were prolific
When Real Madrid broke the world record transfer fee to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, the former United star had already won a Ballon d’Or and scored 42 goals - in all competitions - in a single season.
And when Los Blancos broke the world transfer record once again, four years later, for Gareth Bale, the Wales international had just scored a remarkable 26 goals in 44 appearances for Tottenham.
These are the figures that Hazard must start matching if he is to become the man who replaces Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

He’s certainly capable, but does he possess the required drive to reach the very top?
