Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is set to sign a new long-term deal at Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Star. The report has suggested that the England international, who joined
the club from Bolton in January 2012, will sign a new three year deal
with the club.
Success
Cahill has enjoyed a fine stint at the Bridge in recent years, having won both the Champions League and Europa League with the club. The defender is now one of the first names on the team sheet alongside captain John Terry, with the duo having formed a fine partnership at the back.
And now, Cahill will be looking to win his first Premier League title with the Blues, as they look to overhaul champions Manchester City. Cahill and Co. have made a fine start to this campaign, with four wins out of four in England's elite division so far.
Staying at Chelsea
If Cahill does sign a new deal with the Blues, then he will become the third first team star in recent time to secure their long term future with the club. Thibaut Courtois followed Cesar Azpilicueta in committing his long term future with the club after the goalkeeper signed a new five-year deal with the Blues last week.
It also appears that Belgian winger Eden Hazard will also sign a lucrative new deal with the club after Mourinho revealed that the club had agreed a new deal with the talented star.
Champions League
Cahill and Co. will currently be focussing on Chelsea's Champions League opener, as the Blues play host to German outfit Schalke 04 tomorrow evening. Mourinho's side will be looking to go one step better this term after being knocked out at the semi-final stage at the hands of Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid.
Fans of the Blues will certainly be expecting their team to secure all three points against their German opponents tomorrow evening, as they look to continue their fine start to the 2014/15 season. Chelsea's other group rivals, Sporting Lisbon and Maribor, will also go head-to-head today as Group G gets underway.
