AS Roma midfielder Gervinho has put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract extension, reports Sky Sports.
The Ivorian international still had three-years left on his current contract as it was set to expire in the summer of 2017, but the Italian side have moved quickly to secure the winger's future by adding one more year to his deal.
Roma arrival
The 27-year-old arrived in Serie A back in the Summer of 2013 after the Italian side agreed an £8 million fee with Premier League side Arsenal where the forward struggled to impress during his two years there.
After making just shy of 50 appearances for the Gunners, Gervinho only managed to net nine times, but during his first season at Roma, the Ivorian matched his tally from his Arsenal days, netting nine times in 33 games.
Club statement
The news of the extension broke after officials from AS Roma released a formal statement regarding the Ivorian's future yesterday, and below you can read the statement in full.
"Roma announces it has extended the contract of Yao Gervais Kouassi "Gervinho" for a further sporting season.
