Four Players LVG will want to sign before June 12

New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has laid down a challenge to chief executive Ed Woodward by naming the four signings he wants before the 2014 World Cup is over.

Van Gaal doesn't take charge at Old Trafford properly until after the tournament as the 62-year-old is
managing the Netherlands national team up until then. However, that hasn't stopped the Dutchman making demands of Woodward and the Reds Devils hierarchy and here are the four players the boss wants before the World Cup is up, according to the Mirror .

Mats Hummels, Borussia Dortmund

With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both leaving the Theatre of Dreams this summer, United are set to be left a little sparse in central defence.

That is why van Gaal has targeted world-class recruitment in the role in the shape of Dortmund and Germany defender Hummels.

Yevhen Konoplyanka, Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk

Liverpool were on the verge of signing this Ukraine international in the January transfer window, before thevDnipro chairman blocked the £12m move.

Now six months on and the Reds' rivals are in for the 24-year-old, although the Merseysiders could come back in for Konoplyanka as they have the added
attraction of Champions League football.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, Bayern Munich

Central midfield is another problem area for the club, with Tom Cleverley considered below par, £27.5m signing Marouane Fellaini struggling to adapt and
Darren Fletcher still in the rehabilitation process.

Michael Carrick has had a difficult 12 months as well but does possess talent, but bringing in the experience of Schweinsteiger would be utterly invaluable.

Kevin Strootman, AS Roma

Finally this midfielder is a favourite of van Gaal's with the manager having coached Strootman in the Dutch national team for the past two years.

The 24-year-old was impressing at Roma this term after a switch from PSV Eindhoven, but a cruciate ligament injury means the midfield ace won't be fit
again until December.
