Manchester United enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 victory over West Brom at the Hawthorns this afternoon, to ease the pressure on David Moyes, and keep alive their faint hopes of a top-four finish. 


Goals from England trio Phil Jones, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck secured the points, to leave the Baggies in danger of relegation with Pepe Mel still searching for his first victory since his appointment.

Victory for United sees them move up to sixth in the Premier League table, still an improbable nine points off fourth position with ten games remaining. 

An attacking team selection for Moyes, which included, Rooney, Robin van Persie, Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj, reaped it's reward with a dominant display that saw West Brom fail to cause their opponents many problems.

Rafael went close for United, drawing a good reaction save from Ben Foster which saw his header turned onto the crossbar, before Phil Jones gave the visitors the lead with a powerful header after 34 minutes.

Jones met an in swinging free-kick from Van Persie to open the scoring, on his return to the side that at times looked shakey.

The Reds continued to dominate in the second half, before Rooney doubled their lead, rounding off an impressive move as he converted a header from Rafael's accurate cross.
Substitute Welbeck then finished the scoring in the 82nd minute with an incisive finish from Rooney's pass, after another impressive move.
The victory will come as welcome relief to both United fans and players, and will no doubt please the manager on what was one of their more fluent and composed performances this season. 
Departing captain Nemanja Vidic was left out the starting line-up after agreeing his move to Inter this week, with England duo Chris Smalling and Jones paired at the heart of the defence. Fellow England member Tom Cleverley was left out the squad altogether following recent criticism that has come his way.

But there was a starting berth for Van Persie, after Moyes quashed rumours of a fall out with his star striker, however the Dutchman didn't appear best pleased when substituted midway through the second half, despite appearing fortunate to remain on the field following a rash tackle when on a booking.

United face Liverpool next weekend Sunday at Old Trafford, in what will be prove a pivotal game for both sides in the quest for Champions League qualification, with Liverpool looking to further enhance their title credentials.
