The Selecao's 5-0 victory over South Africa in
Johannesburg saw them stay put in a month that saw very little movement
at the top
The
Selecao have played just once since the last set of rankings were
released, seeing off South Africa 5-0 as the Gillette Brasil Global Tour
arrived in Johannesburg earlier this month in what was their final
match before coach Luiz Felipe Scolari names his 23-man World Cup squad.
Felipao
will announce the group on May 7. Brazil will then play two June
warm-up matches back home in Brazil before opening their World Cup
campaign against Croatia in Sao Paulo on June 12.
Croatia
remained unmoved in 16th place in the Fifa rankings. Scolari's side will
also face Cameroon and Mexico in Group 1 this summer. The African side
dropped five places to 50th, while El Tri climbed one place to move back
into the top 20.
Thursday’s update to the table saw very little
movement, with the top five of Spain, Germany, Argentina, Portugal and
Colombia all staying put.
Uruguay, who drew 1-1 with Austria
earlier this month, climbed one place to fifth. Belgium were the only
newcomers to the top ten, moving into tenth at the expense of the
Netherlands.
The latest changes to the rankings take into
considerations 67 matches, 57 of which were friendlies. The next Fifa
World Ranking table will be published April 10.
