Mario Balotelli forced to smile after wondergoal

Most players will look quite pleased after scoring an incredible 40-yard pile driver later in a game to win it for their team - not Mario Balotelli.

Premier League fans know all about the former Manchester City forward's erratic behaviour and moods, but even this reaction will have surprised them.

Balotelli didn't even show a hint of delight at what was an incredible goal that came just in time at the San Siro for new AC Milan manager Clarence Seedorf to avoid a third game without a win in Serie A.

The 23-year-old may not have been inspired to crack a smile but his teammates were, more normally, ecstatic and Adil Rami was especially keen for the goalscorer to share the team's joy.

So, as you can see from the photo above, the France international decided that if Balotelli wasn't happy about scoring the amazing winner, he would at least make him look like he was, so pulled his face to bring about an artificial smile.

It may be one of the only times a player has been told to cheer up after scoring a goal.

Arsenal have been linked with a summer move for Balotelli and Gunners manager Arsene Wenger will be hoping the Italy international doesn't react similarly if offered the chance to move to Emirates Stadium.

  1. "Why always him". He's a controversial player, no doubt, on his day, he is up there with the best.
