Newly crowned Most promising talent in Africa, Kelechi Iheanacho as we already know has signed a pre-contract with Manchester City and will move to the Premier League club in October, when he turns 18.
Initially, we all thought the deal had collapsed after a dispute between his parents and the club over bonus payments. But Kelechi’s dad who happens to be his agent also can now smile happily to the bank after fighting tooth and nail to make sure his son signs for the England money bags.
According to reports, the actual transfer fee is about £250,000 that’s N65million. A further £300,000 (N78million) is to be paid to the Taye Academy in Owerri and a whooping £350,000 to the wonderkid’s father. That’s close to N92million naira! Wow… It’s now evident why his dad this move… selfish interest. That’s just how I see it because the truth is that Manchester City isn't the best possible platform for the young lad to develop his talent.
I am not saying they are a bad club, No. but we all know the policy of the club is to spend big and get the best players. Iheanacho might just spend most of his time on loan. A smaller club would have been the best option for him but it seems his dad prefers his pocket rather than the young lad’s promising career…
This is my opinion on the matter.. What do you think peeps?
