Diego Costa has been in absoloute form for his club this season, with 19 goals in the league to finish 2013 as the topper of the pinchichi chart.
The muscular striker has come a long way from the streets of Brazil, passing through Portugal en route to Celta and Rayo Vallecano before being a mainstay at Atletico Madrid.
However, Costa, just last year, was living in the shadow of Radamel Falcao until he started to make his way into the fold in early 2013. Costa hasn’t stopped muscling his way into the picture, whether it’s by making Falcao surplus to the requirement or going toe to toe with Sergio Ramos, Costa is now a household name.
Not only is he the goal-scoring leader of La Liga, topping such goal-scorers as Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi, but his 19 goals this season are tied with Liverpool’s Luis Suarez for the most goals in Europe.
Ironically enough, it was Liverpool who tried to sign him this summer, but the 25- year-old chose to remain with Atletico Madrid and repay their faith in him, and repay them he has.
