Chelsea to make bid for Arsenal's £32 million striker target

Chelsea will make a summer bid for Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will make a summer bid for for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, according to the Daily Star.

Costa, who has been in sensational form for the La Liga outfit this season, has a £32 million buyout clause and could now be heading to the Premier League in the summer.

It appears that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has recognised the need of a new striker at Stamford Bridge with the likes of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o proving inconsistent.

However, the Blues may challenged by their Premier League rivals Arsenal for the player's signature.

Arsenal appear to be in the market for a new forward with Nicklas Bendtner the main back-up to Olivier Giroud.

Both Chelsea and Arsenal could be set to go head-to-head for the in-form striker in the next transfer window.

However Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will feel confident that he can bring the Atletico hit-man to the club as he's represented by the same agent as Costa.

Chelsea and Arsenal's immediate attentions will turn to this weekend's Premier League clash. The Blues take on Premier League champions Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, meanwhile Arsenal take on Fulham at the Emirates.
