Top 10: Premier League goals of 2013

As we prepare to bring the curtain down on Premier League football in 2013, now seems about the right time to reflect on the best goals scored in England's top-flight this past calendar year.
 

Robin van Persie
Manchester United 3-0 Aston Villa
 
Still the best goal of his Manchester United career, Van Persie's sublime volley helped not only clinch the Premier League title, but also consecutive Golden Boot awards for the deadly Dutchman.
Latching onto a 50-yard pass from Wayne Rooney, the 30-year-old striker unleashed a sensational first time effort past Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

Dani Osvaldo

The Italian striker has taken some time to settle in the Premier League, but his equaliser against City showed a glimpse of exactly what an on-song Osvaldo is capable of.

Having gone a goal behind off the back of three consecutive league defeats, Mauricio Pochettino's side were clawed back by a moment of brilliance from the former Roma man, who turned Vincent Kompany inside out before curling an effort over Costel Pantilimon.

Jack Wilshere

One of the best team goals scored in the Premier League in recent years, this effort finished off by Wilshere had remnants of the Arsenal of old.
A menacing run forward by Santi Cazorla started the move, leading to a quick interchange between Wilshere and Olivier Giroud, completely splitting Norwich's defence apart, leaving the England international midfielder to volley home from close-range.

Pajtim Kasami

Crystal Palace 1-4 Fulham

This Marco van Basten-esque effort helped set Fulham on their way to an emphatic victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Kasami's goal - worthy of winning any game - came after receiving Sascha Riether's floated pass down the channel. He took it on the chest, and unleashed a stunning volley past the helpless Julian Speroni.

David Luiz

                
Fulham 0-3 Chelsea
 
The Brazilian defender crowned his 100th Chelsea appearance by scoring a 35-yard screamer past future team-mate Mark Schwarzer.
Collecting a pass from Eden Hazard, Luiz controlled and took one touch to set himself before unleashing the stunning drive into the top corner, to set the Blues on their way to a comfortable west London derby victory.

Leighton Baines

West Ham 2-3 Everton 
Baines scored two free-kicks as Everton twice came from behind to win at Upton Park.
At the time, Roberto Martinez's side were still unbeaten in the Premier League, and the England international was instrumental in protecting that record.
His second set-piece was particularly impressive, curling past Jussi Jaaskelainen into the top corner.

Matt Lowton

Stoke City 1-3 Aston Villa
Lowton's spectacular 87th minute strike helped Paul Lambert's side earn a valuable three points against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.
Chesting down a clearance 30 yards out, the right-back fired an unstoppable volley past Asmir Begovic into the top corner.

Gareth Bale


West Ham 2-3 Tottenham
The Welsh winger maintained his incredible goalscoring run with a last-minute stunner at Upton Park, to clinch Spurs a vital three points against West Ham.
Picking up the ball in a central area, Bale - still some distance from goal - shifted it on to his favoured left foot and arrowed a drive past Jussi Jaaskelainen into the top corner.

Luis Suarez

Suarez scored four times as Liverpool blew Norwich away at Anfield, thanks largely to the Uruguayan striker's virtuoso performance.
His first goal was the pick of the bunch, after catching John Ruddy off his line, the prolific marksman fired a 40-yard half volley beyond the Canaries goalkeeper.
