Man City wins as Liverpool displaces Arsenal

It was a blistering and interesting afternoon in the English Premier League on Saturday. Man City moved second on the table with a 4-2 win at Craven Cottage away to Fulham. Luiz Suarez’s inspired Liverpool won 3-1 to move top of the table for the first time in the competition which saw the Uruguay striker grabbed a brace and made an assist.

It was not the easiest of games for Manchester City as Kompany’s disastrous own goal almost ruined City’s day. But nevertheless, Fulham were unable to outscore the free-scoring Manuel Pellegrini’s boys as the encounter started and ended an interesting one.

Ivorian Yaya Toure put the visitors ahead after just 20 minutes of play through a well driven free-kick right from the edge of the box after Sidwell had brought down David Silva. Few minutes later, Captain Vincent Kompany the visitor’s advantage after scoring from a Demecheles’ rebound to put the Citizens two goals ahead.

The home team in search of a U-turn mounted pressure and forced some great saves from Joe Hart. The pressure paid off when former Manchester United player, Kieran Richardson found the bottom corner as he calmly converted from a aeriel brilliance. Fulham were brought back into the game as Vincent Kompany beat his own goal keeper to make the score line 2-2. The Belgian watched helplessly as his mis-kicked clearance lobbed over his own goalkeeper and found the back of the net.

Two goals from two second half substitutes, made sure that Man City had no regrets on the afternoon. Jesus Navas found the far post when he was put on the run by Negredo’s pass. The Spanish player fired pass the opponent’s goalkeeper which gave the lead back to the Manchester Blues. James Milner’s introduction was also to be fruitful when he tapped in from a Negredo’s wining cross.

The game ended 4-2 in favour of Manchester City. The result means Manchester City moves second on the table with one point behind Liverpool, who sits top courtesy of their win earlier in the afternoon.

Earlier in the day, Liverpool defeated Cardiff at Anfield. The Reds domineted most of the game as red-hot striker, Suarez scored twice to increase his goal tally.

Suarez got his first inside the opening 60 seconds with a fine finish to put Liverpool ahead before Raheem Sterling madw it two some minutes later.

Suarez made sure that Liverpool won the game inside the first 45 minutes with his second strike before the half time whistle.

Cardif got a goal back in the second half but it made no difference as it was only a consolation goal
