Fredy Guarin insists he is happy to stay at Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin insists he wants to stay put in Italy despite January transfer interest from Chelsea.

The Colombian international is said to have been the subject of a £15 million Chelsea bid ahead of the winter window.

The 27-year-old says that despite the prospect of a move to Stamford Bridge, he would like to remain with Inter.

"I hope that Inter are thinking about how much I really want to stay here," he said.

"There is something going on, I can definitely not deny that.

"But now I focus only on Inter and to do well here, we'll see in the future."

He added of Chelsea's interest: "I haven't spoken to Mourinho. My agent has done that."

Guarin, previously a target for Tottenham, starred for his side last night as they secured a precious 1-0 win over AC Milan.

According to Inter Milan owner Erick Thohir, Guarin's fine performance at the San Siro last night may have been enough to persuade him to reject Chelsea's advances.

"[Guarin] was one of the best players today and I will raise the matter with the coach and sports director, if we should let him leave or not, but we must build a better Inter."

Chelsea are looking to strengthen their midfield with the addition of Guarin in January.

With Marco van Ginkel out injured for the remainder of the season the Blues look light in that area of the pitch, with only ageing duo Frank Lampard and Michael Essien, as well as Ramires and the underwhelming John Obi-Mikel to call upon.
