A review of Sunday's action on Matchweek 11 in the Barclays Premier League
Manchester United 1:0 Arsenal

Manchester United reasserted
their credentials as title contenders with a victory over early-season
pacesetters Arsenal, as Robin van Persie once again proved the scourge of the
Gunners by producing the winner against his former club.
The Netherlands forward rose
highest to send Wayne Rooney's 27th-minute corner past Wojciech Szczesny with a
powerful header that helped move United up to fifth in the Barclays Premier
league table, five points behind Arsene Wenger's side.
Tottenham 0:1 Newcastle:
Arsenal's North London
neighbours Tottenham Hotspur also lost 1-0 as they were foiled by an
outstanding display by Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul. The Dutchman's
heroics –
he made 14 saves –
combined with Loic Remy's seventh goal in as many Barclays Premier League
appearances earned the Magpies a memorable win at White Hart Lane.
Sunderland 1: 0 Manchester City:
Manchester City fell to a
fourth consecutive 1-0 defeat at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland secured
their second Barclays Premier League win of the season thanks to Phil
Bardsley's 21st-minute strike. The defender perfectly placed a shot past Costel
Pantilimon in the City goal to maintain their run against the Citizens.
Swansea City 3:3 Stoke City:
There were six goals in a
dramatic contest at the Liberty Stadium, where Swansea City recovered from a
two-goal, half-time deficit to go 3-2 up against Stoke City, only for Charlie
Adam to level the match in the dying moments from the penalty spot.
The Potters appeared destined
for a comfortable win when Jon Walters, on his 100th consecutive Barclays
Premier League appearance, and Stephen Ireland gave them a 2-0 lead, but
Swansea levelled through Wilfried Bony and Nathan Dyer, and when Bony struck
again with four minutes left Michael Laudrup's charges looked to have pulled
off a memorable fightback. But Adam had the last word, holding his nerve to
convert an added-time penalty.
