#SSSB picks the best five efforts from another entertaining round of top-flight action

Following a particularly dour international break - certainly from England's point of view, anyway - the Premier League returned in all of its glory.

With nine games over the weekend, there was certainly no shortage of talking points and fine goals for fans and pundits alike to feast their eyes upon.

Newly-promoted Cardiff City impressed once again to claim a last-minute 2-2 draw at home to Manchester United, Manchester City humiliated Tottenham 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium while Chelsea recorded a comfortable 3-0 win at West Ham.

An Olivier Giroud brace led Arsenal to a 2-0 win over Southampton, Crystal Palace earned a valuable 1-0 win over Hull City at the KC Stadium, while Fulham slumped to another defeat at the hands of Swansea.

There was a tremendous derby clash at Goodison Park that ended 3-3 between Everton and Liverpool, Stoke recorded a 2-0 victory over struggling Sunderland and Newcastle's good form continued with a 2-1 win over Norwich.

5. Olivier Giroud - Arsenal v Southampton

Okay, so this probably wasn't one of the top five goals in terms of pure quality. However, it merits a place on this list due to sheer hilarity.

In a keenly-anticipated clash between two of the Premier League's high-flyers at the Emirates Stadium, Southampton 'keeper Artur Boruc gifted Arsenal the lead in baffling fashion.

Having received the ball from a defender, Boruc totally failed to clear his lines in the face of considerable pressure from French striker Giroud. Boruc had plenty of chances to clear the danger, yet instead appeared intent on performing his best Johan Cruyff impression but failed dismally as Giroud won possession and slotted home.

4. Frazier Campbell - Cardiff City v Manchester United

Cardiff put in another fine battling display on Sunday afternoon in the Welsh capital, disrupting the flow of David Moyes' Manchester United in stellar fashion.

Although their second goal - scored to secure a well-deserved point in the final few seconds of injury time - was obviously the main focus of attention, Cardiff's first was a team move of great quality.

Having received the ball midway inside the Manchester United half, Jordan Mutch played a sublime pass into the path of former Red Devils frontman Frazier Campbell, who proceeded to calmly fire past David de Gea.

3. Luis Suarez - Everton v Liverpool

In a truly breathless Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, controversial striker Suarez recovered from a horror tackle from Belgian midfielder Kevin Mirallas to provide a moment of real quality for Liverpool from a set-piece.

With the scores level at 1-1 after an exciting first 20 minutes, Suarez expertly dispatched a tremendous free-kick into the bottom left-hand corner of Tim Howard's net to spark wild celebrations among the travelling Liverpool fans.

2. Jesus Navas - Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur

On a memorable afternoon for Manuel Pellegrini and co, there was plenty to admire about Manchester City on Sunday. Spanish speedster Navas provided the first spark of genius after just 14 seconds.

After Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had parried an effort from Alvaro Negredo, compatriot Navas reacted magnificently to loft a beautifully-weighted chip over the stranded Frenchman to set City on their way to an emphatic win.

1. Alvaro Negredo - Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur

There is only one outstanding candidate for the number one spot this week, and it's another goal that is sure to have sent Manchester City fans into raptures.

With Spurs already dead and buried at 4-0, Spanish striker Negredo - affectionately nicknamed 'The Beast' due to his formidable physical presence - drew lofty comparisons to Arsenal legend David Bergkamp with a fantastic finish.

After receiving a pass from midfielder Fernandinho outside the Spurs box, Negredo backheeled the ball through the legs of Michael Dawson before rifling an unstoppable left-footed effort past the despairing Lloris.
