Which Spaniard has been
better since his arrival?
The summer transfer window
can be registered as a big loss for La Liga- at least for Valencia and Sevilla.
These two teams sold their
top strikers. Valencia's Soldado joined Tottenham in deal
worth £26million, while Manchester City bought Alvaro Negredo from
cash-strapped Sevilla for £22million.
For the past few years the
Spaniards have been battling to solidify their places in the national team in
La Liga, but it looks like they will have to finish the battle in the Premier
League.
Last season Negredo scored 25
goals in the Spanish top flight, one more than Soldado, but the
latter's chance conversion rate of 26.7 per cent dwarfed his counterpart’s record of 19.5%.
But how have they settled to
life in the Premier League?
Roberto Soldado (Tottenham
Hotspur)
The Spaniard has been bought
to be the leader in the attack and he knows that. Since the beginning of the
season, Soldado has started six out of seven games.
In these seven games, Soldado
has scored two goals, both from the penalty spot.
He has only had 11 shots-
seven on target and four off target.
Yet we have to mention that
Soldado has been working a lot for his team-mates. He has made a total of 11
chances for his team-mates, including one assist.
This is a clear sign that
Soldado has already settled in Spurs' attack and it's only a matter of time
until he starts scoring more goals.
Alvaro Negredo (Manchester
City)
City's new man has faced
competition for a first-team place at the Etihad Stadium with Sergio Aguero and
Edin Dzeko, and he started the first few games on the bench.
The Spaniard has also made
seven appearances- four as a starter and three from the bench.
He has scored three goals and
many would say that he has been doing better than Soldado, just because of
this.
In terms of shots, Negredo
has made just one more than Tottenham's striker. With six shots on target and
six of, Negredo has been less accurate than Soldado, but on the other side has
more goals.
Yet there is one area, in
which Negredo loses to Soldado- created chances.
Negredo has only created four
chances for his team-mates to the 11 Soldado has made.
Conclusion
Both strikers look up and
running in England and are doing quite well in their teams. Negredo has more
competition at City, but it looks he needs just that.
For me Negredo has been doing
a bit better, but only just. Only seven games have been played and there is a
long way to go for both strikers and their teams.
