Sidney Sam:
Sidney Sam (born 31 January
1988 in Kiel) is a German footballer playing for Bayer Leverkusen born to a
Nigerian father. Sam is capable of playing as a Left Winger, Right Winger and
as a Secondary Striker.
He has represented Germany at various age grade groups
ranging from Germany's Under-19, 20, 21. On 29 May 2013, Sam made his senior
international debut for Germany in a friendly game against Ecuador. Since then
he has only played for them two more times.
This 2013/2014 season has been a
revelation for Sam, having notched six goals, four assists in eight games in
the German Bundesliga. His form hasn't gone un-noticed by Joachim Löw, who has
recalled Sam into Germany's Squad for their World Cup Qualifying match against
Ireland and Sweeden.
If he plays in one of those competitive matches, he will
not be eligible to play for Nigeria. On
Friday, 9th of October 2013, Sidney Sam made his Competitive debut for Germany
against the Republic of Ireland on the 88th minute mark replacing Muller in
their World Cup Qualifying Match.
